Morocco Sahara Excursions is a small Moroccan team that plans and runs desert tours from Marrakech and Fes. We answer your messages, we drive the road over the Atlas, and we meet you at the edge of the dunes. This page tells you who we are, how we work and what you can expect from us.
Morocco Sahara Excursions was founded by Hassan.
Morocco Sahara Excursions is part of Nomalor Travel, and today we work from our office at Av 23 MHD in Marrakech. Knowing a road well means knowing the small things: where to stop for the view, which stretch is slow after rain, how long the light lasts in the dunes in each season. That is what we try to pass on to every traveller.
You keep the same driver from pickup to drop-off, so there is one person who knows your plans.
We use standard camps in Erg Chebbi and near Zagora, with electricity and shared bathrooms, and offer an upgrade to luxury camps with a private bathroom and Wi-Fi. We look for clean bedding, good food and a crew that treats guests and camels well.
Shared departures leave every day and stay small — a maximum of 17 travellers — so stops are easy to agree on and nobody feels like a passenger on a coach.
If two days will not get you to the dunes you have in mind, we tell you. Sometimes the better plan is a shorter route, or an Agafay desert day trip instead of the Sahara.
The desert around Merzouga and Zagora is home to families who still move with their herds. A visit should happen on their terms: ask before any photo, and never treat a home as a sight.
Drivers, cooks and camp crew work long hours far from home, and they deserve proper pay for it.
The dunes should look the same after we leave, so we ask travellers to carry their own rubbish back out.
From the first message to the last glass of tea at camp, these are the faces behind the trip. Between us we speak English, French, Spanish and Italian.
When you write to us, the person who replies works on the same team that drives you and sets up your camp. Nothing gets lost between a booking site and a subcontractor.
